Sybotanica Pumice – Improves aeration and drainage for healthy roots

Pumice is a porous, lightweight volcanic rock that optimises soil structure and air circulation. It is perfect for deep-rooted plants, succulents and cacti, and any substrate that needs effective drainage.

Key benefits

  • Improves drainage and aeration in heavy or compacted soils
  • Controlled moisture retention without saturating the substrate
  • Durable, stable structure that does not break down
  • Optimal support for vigorous roots
  • Can be used as a decorative and functional mulch

Applications

  • Succulent and cactus mix: 30 to 60% pumice for a dry, fast-draining substrate
  • Heavy-rooted plants: 20 to 30% to prevent soil compaction
  • Top layer: 1 to 2 cm on the soil to limit evaporation and protect the roots
  • Terrariums: mix with bark, moss and activated carbon for a breathable, free-draining substrate

Why choose pumice?

With its granular texture and numerous cavities, pumice promotes optimal circulation of air and water, regulates moisture and prevents root rot. Heavier and more durable than perlite, it stays in place in the pot and does not degrade over time, making it a perfect choice for mature plants.

Tips for use

  • Rinse before use if necessary
  • Use as an additive to potting soil or as a drainage layer
  • Spread over the top of pots for an attractive, functional mulch
  • Combine with other substrates for tropical plants or succulents
